Time For Another Street

I ran across this poem on another website recently, and I thought it very wise. Wanted to share. I hope I'm not messing with Ms. Nelson's copyright -- I do know that this piece is found all over the internet. But Ms. Nelson? If you want me to take this down, let me know and I'll comply immediately.

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters
Portia Nelson

Chapter 1
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter 2
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter 3
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s a habit … but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter 4
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter 5
I walk down another street.

Love the poem Dana! I haven't seen it before. So appropriate for the new start -- a new year -- a new decade. Oh that our holes will be obvious and we'll be able to skirt them this year.

I'm also excited about your chuck roast recipe. I found two brands of non-seasoned meat tenderizer at my store, both list sugar and salt along with some papaya derived enzyme that I'm assuming does the work. Do you use a variety without sugar? If so, do you mind sharing the brand? Thanks! Sally
